Location: Lexington, KY

The Department of Entomology at the University of Kentucky is seeking a Laboratory Technician Senior. The successful candidate will work with a research group that integrates behavior and ecology with computational biology and genomics in the study of bees in the family Halictidae (sweat bees).
Responsibilities include aiding other members of the lab in research projects, as well as serving as the de facto lab manager. Lab manager duties include inventory management, ordering supplies, and working with the principal investigator to ensure the lab is compliant with University and Federal regulations. In addition, the technician may have responsibilities related to the collection and husbandry of local bees (e.g., locating nesting sites, excavating nests, establishing and maintaining bee colonies in the lab, bee identification) and assistance with molecular biology experiments (e.g., DNA and RNA extractions, PCR, cloning, sequencing library preparation, cell culture).
