Agriculture Extension Associate

Location: Lexington, KY

The College of Agriculture, Food and Environment department of Horticulture seeks an Extension Associate. The Extension Associate is a full-time, grant-funded position will function in a team of state Extension Specialists and County Extension Agents to demonstrate fruit and vegetable (produce) crop production systems and increase understanding and adoption of current sustainable produce crop production technologies to meet market requirements. The person will: consult with produce growers, convey relevant research-based information, assist and train new growers with their farm planning and basic produce production methods, and consult with experienced growers to assist them with improving and sustaining their produce production systems, plan and conduct produce-related workshops and demonstrations, and conduct trials at commercial farms and orchards and/or on the Horticulture Research Farm for high priority topics and production issues. In collaboration with other Extension Associates and faculty, produce unique educational resources (training videos, factsheets, etc.) in support of the defined program focus of the Kentucky Horticulture Council grant.
