Research Analyst

Location: Lexington, KY

The Department of Plant and soil Sciences in the College of Agriculture, Food, and Environment works towards developing sustainable food and crop production practices in Kentucky. The Kentucky Soybean Variety Performance Tests provide an unbiased and objective estimate of the relative yield performance of soybean varieties grown in Kentucky. This information is used by Kentucky soybean farmers, seed companies, and agriculture scientists. The tests help soybean producers in selecting the varieties best adapted to their local environments and production requirements.

The analyst position will provide essential labor support to the program. Responsibilities include field research, equipment maintenance and management, supervise and assist students and other technical staff, data management, maintaining seed and research supplies, and chemical inventory, coordinating shared resources, and hauling agriculture research equipment across the state of Kentucky, and collecting experimental data to implement the online database. Providing labor assistance as needed to the UK Corn and Small Grain variety testing projects
