The Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Horticulture Research Farm at University of Kentucky (UK-HRF) is seeking a full-time Research Farm Technician to join our team. The research project is funded for two years with an opportunity for renewed funding thereafter. The project will focus on field and greenhouse trials to evaluate soil amendments and biostimulants. Responsibilities include coordination and management of field and greenhouse research trials, planting, crop maintenance, plant measurements, data management and analysis, and graphical reports. This position reports to the Farm Superintendent and involves diverse horticultural farm work during the busy growing season, operating farm equipment, and technical support for related research projects.
The Horticulture Research Farm at University of Kentucky is a 100-acre research farm managed by the Department of Horticulture, located in Lexington, KY. It features organic and conventional field plots for vegetable research. Other research units address tree fruits, small fruits, viticulture, CEA greenhouse, and nursery crops. In addition, UK-HRF hosts a working farm with student apprenticeships in the Organic Farming Unit, the 250-member Community Supported Agriculture or UK-CSA, on 30 acres of certified organic acreage.
