Location: Lexington, KY
The Equine Analytical Chemistry Lab in the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment is seeking an Services Director Associate/EACL. This position will direct, administer & perform all duties in the wet lab; to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency, plan and assign daily workload for wet lab employees, including accessioning, screenings, confirmations, reextractions, storage and disposals. Develop, implement and ensure compliance with all laboratory protocols. Ensure results are accurately documented & prepared for reports. Conduct analysis of wet lab efficiency/effectiveness and identify & develop best practices to improve workflow, performance & processes. Engage with leadership to address performance or resource related issues of support staff. Assist with design & implementation of quality systems. Establish & maintain a system of records ensuring the wet lab is in compliance with QA/QC standards, policies & procedures. Communicate with lab personnel regarding changes in SOPs. Collaborate with and provide regular reports to leadership to help determine goals and objectives; conduct strategic planning, set and implement policies. Manages scheduling and communication between team members and coordinates materials and resources as necessary. Work with Services Director to initiate process improvements as well as research best-in-class developments in the field. Communicate and interact with other lab and analytical professionals. Develop and update methods, processes and techniques. Initiate and send reports to clients. Provide supervision to all laboratory technicians. Maintain a friendly and productive work environment while ensuring duties are completed in a timely manner. Document employee training and competency. Prepare annual employee evaluations and performance improvement plans. Encourage staff development. Other duties as needed. This position is located off campus.
