Location: Lexington, KY

The Department of Dietetics and Human Nutrition is seeking a Program Coordinator II who will serve as the Director of Community Outreach. The successful candidate will have an active role in departmental strategic decision making process in the areas of food insecurity, health and wellness, particularly as they relate to experiential learning activities. This professional will serve as the Staff Advisor to the award-winning Campus Kitchen at the University of Kentucky (CKUK). CKUK is a student-powered organization dedicated to reducing food waste and eliminating food insecurity. Students recover food and produce from campus dining facilities, grocery stores, and farmers markets to prepare healthy, balanced meals for those experiencing poverty, hunger, isolation, and/or homelessness in the Lexington and UK community. CKUK also works to target the root causes of hunger and food waste on campus and in the community through education and programming.

Major job responsibilities include: managing the day-to-day operations of the Campus Kitchen, supervision and mentoring of student volunteers and hourly student workers, regular engagement with campus and community partners, and strategizing future initiatives in support of student experiential learning and community partnership. Additionally, the Director of Community Outreach will have the opportunity to teach an undergraduate course and coordinate research projects in the area of food insecurity.

Successful candidates will have demonstrated work experience in community leadership and food insecurity and maintain food safety certifications. Demonstrated ability of strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent time management, and research skills are all attributes we are looking for. The location of this position is predominantly in person, with limited the hybrid work opportunities available.
