Location: Lexington, KY
The Department of Entomology at University of Kentucky is seeking a laboratory technician senior to assist with operations and perform experiments in a honey bee behavior and physiology lab. Primary responsibilities include day-to-day lab management (supply ordering, equipment maintenance, safety procedures), training and helping graduate and undergraduate students, implementing and trouble-shooting molecular biology protocols (e.g., dissections, RNA extraction, qPCR, enzyme activity assays), managing honey bee colonies, and assisting with field data collection. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work towards an advanced degree in Entomology while serving as the technician, if desired.
