The Department of Plant and Soil Sciences in the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food, and Environment seeks a collaborative and engaging Field Research Manager for the tobacco and hemp agronomic research program. Duties include management of greenhouse production of transplants including the execution of research protocols to improve the quality of transplants, planning and management of multiple field trials, maintenance of research supplies inventory and field equipment, data collection and entry, and supervision of seasonal student workers. Working with the program PI, the employee will prioritize and conduct field tasks including soil preparation, planting, weeding, topping, harvesting, and post-harvest processing of tobacco and hemp. The employee will be expected to be able to read and execute specific research protocols to include the application of individual treatments in the field and the collection of data. Responsibilities include oversight to ensure that farm safety, equipment safety and pesticide handling protocols are followed during the conduct of field research.
