Position is located at Maine Chance Farm, Lexington, KY.
The Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food & Environment department of Animal & Food Sciences seeks a self-motivated dependable individual with a passion of equine sciences with good critical, planning and communication skills for the Animal Resource Coordinator role. The Animal Resource Coordinator is a key member of the Horse Unit team. The position works with the unit at Maine Chance Farm using in-depth knowledge of equine health, reproduction, nutrition and facilities to ensure the proper completion of research projects, undergraduate classes, extension events and animal care in compliance with university needs. The person in this position will manage and train employees, order and purchase supplies, file appropriate documentation for business transactions and use knowledge and judgment to make decisions related to the need for specialized animal care and facility maintenance procedures. The person in this position is considered an essential employee that is expected to report to work during emergency closings of the University for weather or other reasons. Scheduled work hours and/or days may vary according to the season of year and activities at the farm and will require work during nights, weekends and/or holidays to provide animal care.
